Hope I haven't posted these before.

I'm still going through old files and sketchbooks from that period where I didn't post anything (which quite frankly happens a lot). But anyways, this is an old goody dating waaay back to my art school days. I had a thing for making pretty type with rap lyrics and Winston Churchill.

Beware the Court of Owls

Still posting from the back log of stuff, haha. This time it's animal practice, with text from Scott Snyder's current run of Batman. I think I was reminiscing about how good the Court of Owls arc is. Check it out if you haven't. Greg Capullo does some amazing stuff with his layout design for it--really brilliant stuff that pushes the boundaries of the medium.

SOTG2, La Biblioteca Nacional, Madrid, Spain

Of course, being a reader, I would be the one to suggest we go see Spain's national library, haha. We couldn't go in because it was appointment only, but it was a beautiful building. Never fully inked this one because Madrid was unbearable hot.

SOTG2, Templo de Debod

Templo de Debod, Madrid, Spain. Apparently it's an actual Egyptian temple that was given to Spain as thanks for either saving it or discovering it or something nice that Egypt appreciated.

Bonus: a thing I drew because I was on a Sleigh Bells kick. Check them out, they're wild.

SOTG2, Cathedral Geronimo del Real, Madrid, Spain

Now we've reached the sketches from Madrid. I didn't get to learn much about this cathedral except that it was the Cathedral Geronimo del Real.

I think this was near the end of my trip to Barcelona. We went to the beach one last time.

SOTG2, Poble Espanyol and Sagrada Familia

Poble Espanyol was a cool place. It had was made up of buildings that all featured signature architecture styles from all over Spain with a ton of cute little tourist shops. Familia Sagrada was another Gaudi building. It was nuts to draw. It's also still in construction.

SOTG2, Casa Batllo and Gothic Cathedral

On the left page is a sketch of part of Casa Batllo, another Antoni Gaudi. Its entire facade is covered in mosaics. The right page is the beginnings of a sketch for the interior of the Gothic Cathedral. I can't remember what happened, but my notes say I was just interrupted. Again, this is old stuff I haven't posted yet. Also, these locations are still in Barcelona, Spain.

SOTG2, La Pedrera, Barcelona

A really cool building designed by Antoni Gaudi. He was a really interesting architect in that he believed in using organic shapes in his work. It's kind of like he builds fantasy buildings.

SOTG2, part 5

These are sketches of the beach at Barcelona and a clock tower of Saint Paul's hospital, a World Heritage Site (it's gorgeous, I can see why), and the place where Antoni Gaudi died after he was hit by a tram. Antoni Gaudi was an architect. He made some fun stuff that was all over the city of Barcelona.

SOTG2, hodgepodge

This one is kind of a freak case. I remember, I drew the figures first, my sister, my cousin, and my now boyfriend (who wasn't when I drew this but that's an awkward story all together) first while we were hanging out in front of the Tate Modern in London, there's a silhouette of London too. But the color and background drawings were added in Barcelona (the city in blue ink was the view from my hotel room there). I like the colors and the bat signal.

SOTG2, The Monument

Still from London. The Monument in London. My notes say it's for those who died in the London fire, but it's followed by a question mark so don't take that as fact just yet. Apparently you get a certificate for climbing to the top because it a crap ton of steps. I elected not to because fuck stairs and heights. And yeah, it really is a giant column.

Sketching on the Go 2, part 2

Part 1 was the last post of Buckingham Palace. Finally got to draw Westminster Abbey (didn't get to the last time around I don't think). Fyi, this is still really old. Like over a year old.

I'll throw in a quick painting of my sister and cousin being creeps. From our hotel in London.

Character design stuff

Remember the twins who are fantastic liars from that currently untitled rock n' roll comedy/adventure story? Here's some more work for that.

This is Lucy Montplier. She plays bass and sings in the Justice Taints with Jackie. She's the Aquaman of spiders. Ignore the girl on the left page of the pic below, she's just drawing practice. But the other one is the final look for Lucy.

Finally got the hang of Jude, Jackie's twin. He is the designated "evil" one, with the same super lying powers as Jackie. Bonus Jackie face so I can tell how twin-looking they are.

This last guy is the drummer for Jackie's band, Rex Brixton. He has super strength, but it only comes in short bursts and usually when he doesn't need it. He's ruined tons of drum kits because of it. He's also generally the voice of reason.

Ella Fitzgerald

If you like classic female singers, Ella Fitzgerald is a must.

Henry Cavill

Okay, so now we have something to date how far back this material goes. I went through a Henry Cavill phase (does one ever really leave a Henry Cavill phase?) when Man of Steel was released. Miffed that I got his face shaped screwed up, but glad of the way I handled his facial hair (I suck at facial hair somehow).
